Cute Crates - Another Pinterest Inspired Project

Here is the picture that inspired me. I know that many of us are making these for our classrooms and I knew I just had to do it. My Dad was great and cut the pieces of wood for me. He also rounded the corners.

Twin foam mattress pad
I cut the foam to fit the top of the boards.
I stapled the foam to the board to keep it in place.
Here are my finished products! I have a green, a blue, and 2 more black ones. I can't wait to put them at my table at school. I will take pictures and post them as soon as I can.  Very excited!!!

I love these but I don't know if I can add making these to my to do list. Although it would help with storage too. :) Thank you for sharing.

@Tara: I don't know how well they would hold up with the big kids. I guess I will see how they work for 2nd graders over the course of the year. Hopefully they will hold up!

@Mrs. Coe: I got the fabric at JoAnn's Fabrics. I love it because it brings out the colors of the different crates.

These are adorable! Can I ask where you got the crates from? They look nice and sturdy!

I bought the crates at Walmart. Right now they are selling for $3.47.

Is the wood just a piece of plywood? I would love to have my hubby make me a couple of these. Love all your cool ideas!

@ Gina-It is 3/4 inch plywood. Thanks!

What do you find works well to store inside the crates? I have never seen these before and am in shock at how ADORABLE they are!

I am going to store extra school supplies in them. I am sure I will add other things as well...

Love it! I think I'm going to have to add that to my to-make list! :) And a teacher could always use more storage! lol

Do you think they would hold fifth graders?

I love this idea. I saw it on another site and made them last night. The only problem was that the other site didn't say what size wood and mine was to thin. So they were not strong enough to hold so I think it is important to use the 3/4 thick plywood. Yours are so cute!
