Crafty Wednesday #4 ~ Today's Number Board

I have been seeing pictures of a daily number activity on Pinterest. I knew I had to make one. I don't want it to be a difficult task. I want the kids to be able to do this exercise in less than 10 minutes. I want them to think about the number in different ways and I also want them to see the patterns with numbers.

The board and what the student journal should look like.
I love journals. We will be doing this activity as a part of morning work and each student will have a morning work journal. I love that journals reduce the amount of loose paper floating around the room.

Here is the file if you want it!!!

WONDERFUL! How do you pickthe number? I do something similiar but they show their work on a whiteboard. I love the journal idea. Please check out my BLOG :)

I will pick the number based on my student's needs. We will probably start with easy numbers until they get the hang of it.

Thanks for putting this all together and sharing! I've seen this all over Pinterest too. I really like your approach. I'm downloading my copy and looking to put my board together this weekend. One more thing for my to-do list. :)

Thanks,
Amanda

This is awesome. I have taught 5th grade for nearly 20 years and I've decided to revamp my career by switching to 3rd. This is a wonderful resource I will definitely use.

I teach grade 5 and do this for daily review of topics we covered the day before. For your number 8 word form, it should just be fourty three. no plus sign. I sometimes write it in expanded form and they have to write it in standard form. Having the kids roll the place value dice helps them to get involved. My students love that option.
